Game Notes: Rise of Berk

(This is a work in progress.)

Disadvantage: long loading times.
--> I have since learned that this long loading time happens when the cache is cleared/junk is removed.  If I don't clear the cache often, loading is much quicker.  Of course this means a lot of space is used up.  Weirdly, the game puts its data in the internal storage, it seems, even though I have moved it to the SD card.

Can't be played offline.

Played this on facebook long ago, downloaded it recently to phone, played it a few days, then had a problem that was only resolved today which is why I haven't been able to make notes much.  But I like this game, that I can say.

It has recently updated and has a new loading screen which I really like.

Game Notes: Plants vs. Zombies

(This is a work in progress.)

The first game I tried to download to mobile.  I know this game from way back.  My copy on the desktop still has the dancing zombie that looks like Michael Jackson.  Was a little confused when I saw that it looks different now.

One thing I can say is that clicking this game is better on a touch screen than using a mouse.

Can be played offline. Probably better if played offline because you won't get the offers to play ads. Not sure if there will be totally no ads.

Game Notes: Green Farm 3

(This is a work in progress.)

A. Old version (1.0.1)

Game was not downloaded by me. Can't be moved to SD card.

Apparently, can be played offline, though I did not link this to fb.  Uses up too much space on phone/internal memory.

B. version 4.1.3

Tried to download this and was able to move it to phone storage.
Starting: 15.70MB
After moving to phone storage:
- App: 2.81MB
- Phone storage app: 15.25MB

Has since deleted the old version described above.

Restarting my game because I realized why my game bucks balance kept going down.  Pumpkins don't cost coins. Beware of this.

Game good so far, but decided to reset this game again because my other game (which I am a little more invested in right now) is suffering from some lag issues which I think might be because of this game somehow.  (Because it was ok before I installed this.)  So as part of an experiment to see if it will improve, I am resetting this one.  Anyway, I've reset this game so much (in the old version and this one) that I don't mind so much anymore. :P

Game so far before reset:
- level 17, 11k+ (saving up for honey extractor)
- 35/37 plots, 6(/7) crops, 3 trees, 1 beehive
- 4 farm animals, 1 dog
- still waiting for task that will unlock Trophy Room
- fertilizer plane not yet filled up (~4/5)
- best recipe made is probably apple tart
- have made lemon tart, working on lemon meringue but that will have to wait...

See you next time, game.

App before clearing:
- App: 2.81MB
- Phone storage app: 15.25MB
- Data: 6.24MB
- Phone storage data: 256KB

- Cache: 4.66MB

Game Notes: Light a Way

Not sure if can be played offline.  But certainly, time would not have moved, and you will miss out on all rewards from watching videos. Best to play online.

Status before Light Up:
- after stage 100
- level 700
- 3 fairies 5 bonds each

- cottage: 3 accessories, 2 dresses
- 6 lumi bottles opened
- 675+ diamonds

--> as the warning said, doing a Light Up will make you start over, but you will go to the next world, so...
- stage 1 again

- 3 fairies no bonds
- just the Lumi Lantern, no lumis
- no spells
- stardust back to zero
The following remain:

- cottage: 3 accessories, 2 dresses
- 22 lumi bottles opened
- 1130+ diamonds
- Ac range stardust

--> 1100+ diamonds

Had so much difficulty playing the game one day that I thought my other game was interfering (using up memory and things like that) so I reset my other game.  Network connection crossed my mind but I thought it less likely that that was the problem because my other game was fine.  But it looks like internet might have been the problem indeed. The other game was ok because it could be played offline, which makes me wonder if this game could really be played offline.  I'll have to test that one day.

Another thing to note: I didn't get the daily 100 within that 24 hours.  I got it as the day turned.  The day count didn't reset back to zero so that's good.  Though I don't know if it's just because it was still within 24 hours when I started that session. Another thing to test one day.

World 3 (before Light Up):
- after stage 155
- level 1010, with 3 Light Up Blessings
- 3 fairies 5-8 bonds each
- 22 lumis, level range 1-735
- 6 spells, all level 1
- 5 runes, all level 1
- 10 staffs, level 2-3
- all 15 lightstones collected, range 2-7 each
- cottage: 3 accessories, 3 dresses
- 30 lumi bottles opened, giant chest opened, bottles reset
- 1470 diamonds
- Ae range stardust

--> 1440 diamonds

World 4 (before Light Up):
- after stage 190
- level 1170, with 3 Light Up Blessings
- 3 fairies 6-8 bonds each
- 23 lumis, level range 5-845
- 6 spells, level range 5-6, talents: 3,1,1,3,2,1
- 7 runes, all level 1
- 10 staffs, level 2-3
- all 15 lightstones collected, range 3-12 each
- cottage: 3 accessories, 3 dresses
- 8 lumi bottles opened
- 1673 diamonds
- Af range stardust

--> 1643 diamonds

World 5 (before Light Up):
- after stage 230
- level 1450, with 3 Light Up Blessings
- 3 fairies 6-8 bonds each
- 25 lumis, level range 1-1000
- 6 spells, all level 6, talents: 1,1,1,1,1,1
- 8 runes, all level 1
- 10 staffs, level 2-3
- all 15 lightstones collected, range 3-14 each
- cottage: 3 accessories, 3 dresses
- 14 lumi bottles opened
- 1853 diamonds
- Ah range stardust

--> 1823 diamonds

Sadly, as of this last edit (10Jul2018), my backup phone which had this game went into its spastic mode.  It is currently unusable, and I don't know if it will recover.  So, goodbye to this game for now.

It was an addicting tapping game, for sure.

Game Notes: Tap the Frog: Doodle

Installed (myphone): 29.34MB
Moved to phone storage:
- App: 8.71MB
- Phone storage app: 25.41MB

They say this is the original.  First time for me to see it.

Music is different.  It seems you can later buy some clothes and things for your frog. There are 83 badges (achievements?) to unlock.  There are 8 games unlocked in the beginning, and it seems there are 32 more to unlock.

Games are unlocked with frogbucks instead of stars so you don't have to do well in all to unlock more games.  You can opt to play your favorite ones over and over again to win more coins.  Also, if played online, you will receive 100 frogbucks every 2 or 3 videos watched.  But the game can be played offline.

Odd thing though.  About a day after I downloaded the game, it disappeared from Play Store.  Did they discontinue the game?

(10Jul2018) Like the game Light a Way, this was in my backup phone that is currently having spasms and is unusable.  Since I'm not that hopeful that the phone will recover, I doubt I'll be able to continue with this game, especially since it has been removed from the Play Store.

Game Notes: Tap the Frog

(This is a work in progress.)

Installed (myphone): 30.70MB
Moved to phone storage:
- App: 8.37MB
- Phone storage app: 27.44MB

Rank 1: Newbie
Rank 2: Rookie
Rank 3: Mud Bandit
Rank 4: Swamp Soldier
Rank 5: Green Ranger

This is better than the HD already!  In addition to Pop the Frog, Jump the Frog, and Paint the Frog, I've also unlocked:
- Fly the Frog
- Launch the Frog
- Feed the Frog
- Build with the Frog
- Treat the Frog
- Leap the Frog
- Drive the Frog
- Double Tap the Frog
- Spoil the Frog
- Bounce the Frog
- Spacewalk the Frog
- Place the Frog
- Wrap with the Frog
- Pop the Thief Frog
- Dive with the Frog
- Connect the Frog
- Ride the Frog
- Sort with the Frog
- Slide the Frog

plus two-player:
- Fight the Frog
- Pump the Frog
- Goal with the Frog
- Play with the Frog
- Tap the Frog

Had a small issue with Place the Frog - frogs were invisible at first.  Resolved when I connected online.  I can play it offline again now.

I mostly played offline but playing online to get access to additional seconds by watching videos (ads) instead of spending coins came in handy with the more difficult games.

At rank 5, with 82/110 stars, I've unlocked and tried all games.  Yay!  :D

The description in Play Store said there are 28 games, but I count only 27 listed above.  Or maybe they also count the Happy Birthday two-player game (Celebrate with the Frog).

As of today 16June2018, I only have 13/88 achievements, so there's still a lot that can be done.

Storage total: 88.77MB

I might add the ranks beyond 5 in the future, but this is it for now.  :)

Game Notes: Tap the Frog HD

(Compare with Tap the Frog, link below.)

Game was not downloaded by me. Not a full game. Can't be moved to the SD card.

Saw this in Play Store and the cost is P99.  I don't know if that's just a download cost or if it will have everything unlocked already.

This one that's installed only has 3 games unlocked - Pop the Frog, Jump the Frog, and Paint the Frog.

Can be played offline.

Starting: 54.27MB
Rank 1: Newbie
Rank 2: Rookie
15/75 stars - that's the most I can get with only 3 games unlocked
Rank 3: Mud Bandit (54.64MB total)

Compared to this, I like just Tap the Frog better.  Not really sure what HD means...  High Definition?  I didn't really notice the difference.  What I did notice is that I can do more with that than this.  So... I'll finally be deleting this one.  :P  I can keep the other for now.  :)

Time to get back to this?

Due to certain circumstances, I am mostly on the phone now than on the desktop.  Because of this, I've become more aware of the Google Play Store app and have recently tried some of the games there. So I thought, why not get back to this?

I expect my posts will be more of notes about the games instead of reviews, though I might make review posts eventually.

Vampire Tower

I don't know why, but the next interesting game I encountered during this Christmas/New Year holidays is another Halloween-themed game.  Haha.  =P

Vampire Tower!  =)
The instructions are fairly simple.

Basically, you play a... I guess he's a vampire-slayer, who scales up the wall of this vampire tower.

Along the way, there are enemies that block your way, push you off the wall, throw things at you, etc.  So you'll have to jump from one side to the other in order to avoid them.  There are also other obstacles on the walls such as gargoyles and you have to avoid them too or else fall to your death!  =P

Now, there are items hanging in the gap that you can grab as you jump from wall to wall.  Collect three identical items in a row for some power-ups.

You can choose Play Arcade (Normal Mode) where you have 10 difficulty levels to beat starting off with enemies and obstacles that are few and far between, then gradually increasing.  Or you can choose Play Insane (Insane Mode) which is difficult right from the start with enemies and obstacles very close together.

I like this game and recommend it!  =)  Music and sounds are nice too.  If you'd like to try it, just click here.  Maybe you'd like it too.  =)  Enjoy!

[Note:  I reposted this in bubblews.  Please also check my articles there.  Thanks!  =) ]

Memento Monster

Playing games is a favorite pastime of many, including myself.  So one day when I was feeling lazy... er, I mean, when it was time for a break, I looked for a game to play online and found this...

Memento Monster.  =)
I know, I know.  It's Christmastime now and this is more Halloween-themed. But well, it was the one that caught my attention.  =P

It's the memory type of game where you flip cards and look for the matching pair.  The difference with this game is that you're not just looking for identical pairs of cards.  Instead, you have monster cards and their corresponding weapon cards.  So, in addition to the usual challenge of remembering where the cards are in the grid and finding all the pairs in the allotted time, you have to figure out first which weapon goes with which monster.  Some examples are: the shotgun for the zombie, the garlic for the vampire, the mousetrap for the monster rat, and so forth.

When you finally run out of time and the game ends, the level of achievement you reach will depend on how high your score is.  (And as you can see below, I'm only halfway through unlocking all the achievements.  =P )

At this point, there is a "Retry Last Level" button so you can resume from the previous level again, try to win it, and continue improving your score.

The graphics are nice.  The music and sounds are just right.  And even though I haven't finished it yet, I'm happy to recommend it to others.  =)  I like this game!  So much so that I thought of not only writing about it, but starting this blog because of it.  Haha.  =P

One downside to this game, though, is that when you close your game window and decide to come back to it again sometime later, you'll have to start again from the beginning.  I see no feature allowing you to save your game, or choose a particular level, so that you can just continue improving your score from where you left off the last time.  In any case, still a good game!  I recommend it.  =)

If you wish to try it out this game, just follow this link.
